Why Drinking Water is Crucial for Weight Loss

Diet and exercise are not the only major players when it comes to shedding those extra pounds.

Making sure your body is properly hydrated on a daily basis is vital to meeting your weight loss goals.

For starters, when you’re dehydrated your body can give off signals that make you feel as if you’re hungry, causing you to eat when really all you need is a glass of water. Gulp down a glass of cold water the next time you feel a bit hungry, make sure you’re not just dehydrated.

If you’ve been hitting the cardio exercises hard you’re going to have make sure you’re keeping your hydration levels up. All the sweat that happens in the middle of that run needs to be replaced in order to continue your workout.

So how much water should you be drinking?

You’ve probably heard the rule of thumb that suggests 8 glasses a day, but in reality everyone’s water intake is different. There are many factors at play when it comes to how much you should be drinking, including the climate you live in, how active you are, and how much you weigh.

Living in hotter areas requires a great water intake, same goes for individuals with an intense exercise regimen.

It’s generally recommended that you drink half an ounce of water for every pound you weigh. So a person who weighs 180 pounds should be drinking at least 90 ounces of water per day.

One final note:

Make sure that water is your main source of hydration. Sugary drinks will only pack on empty calories, while their diet counterparts contain unhealthy chemicals and additives.

Water is the ultimate calorie-free beverage to keep you healthy and hydrated.
