What Is Pole Fitness?
There are plenty of different workout methods out there, but perhaps you never would have thought about using a pole.
Pole fitness isn’t the same as pole dancing, so try not to get those two confused! While pole fitness does incorporate some aspects of dance, it’s not meant to be erotic.
In pole fitness, you use your whole body and work on strength, flexibility, and endurance. Over time, you train your body to move a certain way and learn to hold yourself up using only your body weight.
Everyone has the potential to start exercising on a pole. You don’t need to be exceptionally strong to get started. Most people who start learning this type of exercise are beginners with no formal training.
This form of exercise can be traced back to the 13th century! Chinese circus artists would use a pole to do their tricks. Before it became associated with dancing, it was used for sport.
