Most runners either aim to improve their distance or running time, this article will focus on the ladder.
Maintaining a consistent pace is a good first step, if you’ve already managed to hit a mile in 10 minutes you may want to start improving your speed.
There are a few ways to effectively improve your run time per mile.
Run more frequently
If you’re running once a week in addition to other exercise routines, consider amping that number up to 2-3 times per week.
Practice with a Treadmill
These machines are generally easier than running outside and allow you to control elevation and avoid various obstacles. Because the belt moves along with you there is less effort placed on your feet.
Stretch
A flexible body is more likely to pick up a faster running pace. Furthermore, tight muscles while running can cause injury. It’s recommended to stretch before and after a run.
Run with Others
Training with company can motivate you to push yourself harder, and challenge you to meet other runners at their level.
